2009 Capital City Women's Masters Champion

What got you started in
bodybuilding?
I was working out in the gym (almost nine years ago) and met
Robert Freeman, a Natural Bodybuilder, who asked me out on a
date. One thing led to another, and his bodybuilding
lifestyle quickly became mine. Needless to say, we are still
together & going strong.
Describe your training and
nutrition (on/off season)
Training in
general, I lift heavy, hard, and smart. The only things that
change with training for competition, is that my cardio
staggers from 30 minutes to 90 minutes, and my rep
schemes stay the same with less rest in between sets.
In terms of nutrition, my protein intake increases to
1 gram per body pound of body weight. I slowly adjust
all of my micro-nutrients to ensure that I am losing body
fat, not muscle.

Non-competitive
career highlights consist of two television interviews
promoting natural bodybuilding and fitness. The first media
interview was for channel 10 news in promotion for
the Capital City Natural Bodybuilding Championships. The
second media interview was for Good Day Sacramento in
promotion for California Family Fitness
Center.
What is the most important
thing you've learned/gained through bodybuilding?
I would have to
say that self discipline & perseverance are the two most
important things I have learned through bodybuilding.
Self discipline is
important because I'm a full-time mother of twin boys, and I
have a part-time personal training job which keeps me very
busy. I have to
schedule my clients’ training hours during the week, plus
fit my own workouts in as well. The cardio, strength
training, and nutrition all play a big part in this field.
Perseverance comes to mind because I have been competing in
this sport for over six years and after repeated tries to
earn my pro card, I finally achieved professional status
this past summer.
Future aspirations?
I am
looking forward to stepping out on stage at my first
professional natural body building & figure competition this
summer, and will hopefully compare favorably.
